The Generation Peter Pan

The concept of the artwork Generation Peter Pan (little woven pieces) explores themes of acceptance, growth, and the emotional journey of expressing one’s true self. It is about the exhaustion of trying to meet others' expectations, the sense of being lost, and how small and imperfect one can feel at times. There are moments when nothing goes right, when you cannot find the right energy, and in this space of frustration, I expressed myself through weaving these small, imperfect pieces. When words failed to capture my feelings, I turned to weaving, but not in the form of large textile sculptures, rather through these small, imperfect objects.

It was a time when I was once again a foreigner, far away from everything familiar—the smells, the places, the sensations. I was trying to fit in with others, grappling with nostalgia, and overcoming prejudices that I thought others had about me. I had to stand tall and speak up. This is a small story about the difficult moments I experienced in one of the countries I moved to in my twenties. It was a time when, no matter how hard I tried, some things just didn’t work out. They weren’t meant for me, and I didn’t need to force things any further—I just had to let them be as they were.

This story is fragmented into many pieces, yet there is beauty and a lesson in every moment. This is what is valuable, this is what matters—the essence that is perfect because it is imperfect. The imperfect is the essence, and that is what is beautiful.

Generation Peter Pan: When I started to learn how to weave I should try to avoid any possible mistake in order to weave a good woven piece. While I am working on this little tender pieces I do exactly the opposite. I try to apply on them all possible mistakes I could while weaving. Now, these delicate works have their non-perfect face. Each one is different and has its own form and imperfections.

The  pieces represents the GENERTION Y.
